You’re finally here!  We’ll whisk you away from CTG Airport after your arrival into the city and take you to your 5-star accommodations. After you get settled into your new digs, we’ll introduce you to the rest of your crew for the week; an intimate group of individuals from all over the world ready to experience Cartagena’s culture and history. As a group, we’ll all head to our welcome dinner and kick off our new journey together.

The best way to get to know a destination is by gaining a bit of its history.  Today, we’ll be taking a tour that gives you a deep dive into Cartagena’s roots. We’ll immediately immerse ourselves in the local culture by trekking through the city, sampling local foods, learning about the people and the African influence in their customs and beliefs, visiting local markets, and stopping at the highest peak it the city for an amazing view.

Now that you’ve got your feet wet in Cartagena, today’s the perfect opportunity to discover some of the things that make the city so great. Get to know your new travel companions, check out that cool spot your friends back home recommended, stop by the open markets, or hang out with a mojito poolside at our accommodations for the week. Today is your day to do as you please.

In the evening, we'll head to a local night club to groove to some salsa vibes over great food & drinks and even better company!

Bring your sunscreen because today is all about the beach!  We’ll be hopping on a speedboat and heading to the gorgeous Baru Island to visit Playa Blanca, one of Colombia's most spectacular beaches to enjoy the sun, the beach and the Afro-Colombian music. Vibe out while you have a Piña Colada and soothe yourself in the crystal clear waters. 

While on the island, we’ll also visit a local town called Santa Ana for a taste of its Afro-Colombian history and culture.

Today, we’ll be taking a journey to Palenque, a town established by runaway slaves with big African roots and a history lesson you won’t get in any textbook.  Here, we’ll learn about their music, dance, culture, customs and beliefs. We’ll tap into the rhythm of the town by taking drum lessons and learn how the hair styles of the local women played a very important role in their path to freedom.

Today kicks off bright and early as we head out of Cartagena to become one with nature.  Just a short distance outside of the city, we'll visit the Totumo Mud Volcano and purify ourselves in the mud baths, known to have your skin feeling brand new. We'll have lunch and head back into the city.

In the evening, we'll come together one last time for a celebratory dinner. Let our last meal together as a travel crew be a time to reflect on the unforgettable week Cartagena gave you, and for the memorable experience you gave yourself.
