I had a great time! Wonderful food! Lovely people! My favorite experience was ATVing on the beaches and through the villages of Saly in Senegal. I didnt expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The food was incredible. Such a change from the junk we eat in the States. Getting back and eating McDonalds felt like eating plastic!~ LOL! Loved participating in the cultural tradition of Tabascy (sp?), eating the sheep and whatnot. Loved the restaurant where we had 8 courses and 6 wines. That was great. And loved the hotel we stayed at. Top notch. I would have loved to be given a greater variety of options of things to do during our free days. I felt that time ended up being wasted and could have been better organized. But overall, it was a great, 5 star experience. Thank you!

Amazing trip with the best hosts that was very attentive and responsive.

Similar to my trip with Black & Abroad last year to Ghana, Tanzania was a beautifully curated experience that struck a great balance of culture and relaxation. The guides and tour leaders were amazing and gave the trip a familial touch that helped anchor you in the experience. Having photographers around is also a nice touch. It alleviates any concerns you may have about forgetting to capture the moment. I gave the trip a 4 only because the schedule did shift somewhat, which created a little confusion occasionally. Traveling from Zanzibar to Dar was relatively easy, but more specificity on baggage limitations would be helpful. While it is noted that we should "consider packing light," it was not explicitly clear that the Zanzibar flights have baggage limitations and additional costs. While the cost was minimal and easy to address, I think advanced notice of this is always helpful. Additionally, the accommodations were great! I enjoyed the hotels and resorts we were provided. However, the resort in Zanzibar lacked a bit of diversity, and the food options were not great. As a Black American traveling to places connected to the diaspora, my hope is for an experience that allows me to connect with other folks within the diaspora, and the resort in Zanzibar did not exactly offer that. While it was beautiful and the staff was very kind and hospitable, I would have appreciated a resort with greater beach access (as the tides limited our water access) and more diverse guests. It was disappointing to be one of the few Black/African guests at the resort. I understand that this is part of the experience when traveling during the holidays; however, places like Kenwa Beach (which was amazing) seemed to offer better beaches, better food, and a greater diversity of guests. Overall, the trip was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Places like the Village Museum, the Maasai Village, the Spice Farm/Cooking Experience, and Stone Town were incredible cultural immersions that truly elevated the experience. The guides were so well connected, knowledgeable, and accommodating, providing a true sense of kinship during the trip. I feel like the experience allowed me to connect more with fellow travelers and left a positive impression. I will continue to recommend Black & Abroad experiences to anyone interested in exploring the continent.

Tanzania was a trip that was almost 6 years in the making (from a 2020 Global Pandemic related cancellation). I am so glad that the opportunity came back around as the food, the culture, the excursions, tours, and sites were all phenomenal! While this was my first Black and Abroad experience, it will not be my last!

I had an incredible experience visiting Salvador and Rio with Black & Abroad! From start to finish, the trip was filled with unforgettable moments, beautiful culture, and the kind of energy you can only find in Brazil. The food alone was worth the journey. It was all fresh, flavorful, and uniquely tied to each region’s history. Every meal felt like its own adventure. The tour companies we worked with were outstanding. The activities were well-planned, engaging, and gave us a deep look into the local culture, music, and community. Our guides were not only knowledgeable but truly passionate about sharing the stories behind the places we visited. A huge part of what made this trip so special was Black & Abroad. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and cultural insight took everything to the next level. They curated a phenomenal travel group. Everyone was fun, respectful, and genuinely excited to experience Brazil together. It felt like traveling with family, but better organized lol. They made sure we were safe, informed, and always having a great time. Overall, this trip was everything I hoped for and more. If you're considering exploring Brazil, do it. And if you want a travel experience rooted in culture, connection, and community, Black & Abroad is the way to go.
